Lascaux, June 2002

Lascaux is of course the cave famous for its pre-historic paintings. These days one cannot see the original, but instead can tour a replica, Lascaux II. It is near the town of Montignac, on the River Vézère, in the heights above which four local boys found the cave in 1940, looking for their dog.

Pictures of the outside are boring, and one cannot take photos inside, so to see what it's like, take a look at the official web site. Instead, here are some pictures of the surroundings, especially around a nice local restaurant with a great view.
