China, Dec. 2011
In early December, I went on another business trip to China. I had a little free time in Beijing, and visited what remains of the Foreign Legation neighborhood, nearby shopping streets, ending up a the Forbidden City moat. It was quite cold, with some ice on the moa.
Then I visited Shanghai for the first time, and spent a weekend day wandering around, fulfilling a long-time desire to see The Bund and the city in general. Shanghai is a wonderful mixture of European architecture from the Concession days, still some remaining older Chinese neighborhoods, and of course fabulous newer developments. It's a very walkable city, and I very much enjoyed it!
