Cycle to Sandy Neck, June 2012
One weekend in late June, Chantal was at Sandy Neck on Cape Cod, and the kids were driving down to spend the weekend. I wanted to go, but also wanted to get in a bike ride. So I rode my bike down! I left early at 6am, Isabel and Benjamin started off in the car a couple hours later, with my baggage, and we all met at the beach at about 10:30am.
It's something I'd been thinking about doing for a while, and it worked out fine. I chose a fairly direct route, about 67.5 miles, with a quick stop for sightseeing at Plymouth Rock (which I'd never actually seen before). I did it at 17.5 mph, so just under 4 hours pedaling, pretty comparable to my normal weekend rides. I'm glad I left early to beat the heat and the traffic in town.
