A road trip down the Hudson River Valley.
We drove out West from home, and first visited the Hancock Shaker Village in Western Massachusetts. We then went across the border into New York State, and visited Olana and Clermont. Both houses were closed that day, so we just looked around a bit. Then we stayed the night in a B&B near Rhinebeck.
The next day, we visited sites around Hyde Park: the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Roosevelt homes: FDR's Springwood, and Eleanor's Vall Kill. Then dinner in Kingston.
The following day, we continued South, visited Boscobel, and stopped by the village of Cold Spring on the way to visiting West Point. We moved to an inn in Croton-on-Hudson.
On our last full day, we started at Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate, then visited Washington Irving's house Sunnyside.
Finally, we saw the cemetery and church at Sleepy Hollow, then Jay Gould's estate Lyndhurst.
